LAVALE-Arthur Anthony “Art” Kalcher, 90, of LaVale, passed away on Tuesday October 19, 2021at Sterling Care Frostburg Village.
Born June 7, 1931 in Johnstown Pa, he was the son of the late Anthony and Cecilia (Orzechowski) Kalcher. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Kalcher; brother Leonard Kalcher; sister Clara Marie Hanuska. Art was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Art was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Korean Era. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Art was a very active member of the LaVale Lions Club where he was a Past President, Melvin Jones Fellow recipient, chairman of the convalescent equipment committee for many years, active in sight conservation and in any way that he could help his fellow Lions. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, working in his yard, and recently enjoyed learning to play the organ. Art was a graduate of Johnstown High School and was a meat cutter at the A&P Market.
Surviving are his daughter Cynthia Bowman and husband Ronnie; two grandchildren Jessany Willis and husband Ian and Julie Douglas and husband Justin; great-granddaughter Penny Grace Willis; several nieces, nephews, cousins and “special nieces”

LAVALE- Leona P. Long, 95, of LaVale, passed away on Friday November 29, 2019 at home.
Born February 18, 1924 in Browton West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lillian (Armstrong) and Kale B. Phares. She was also preceded in death by her husband Webster Bruce Long II, her son Mark Long on February 2007; her brother James Lee Phares and his widow Joan Phares; her sister Thelma Welch.

At Leona’s request, there will be no visitation and all services will be private.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
